“Cloud + Mobile + Social + Big Data: Monetizing the Software Megatrends”

A historic event is what people used to describe SoftCon.PH, the first ever Software Industry Conference in the Philippines held last October 10, 2013 at the Dusit Thani Hotel Manila. The event was organized by the Philippine Software Industry Association in partnership with the DOST – ICTO.

SoftCon.Ph, is an international conference that aims to position the Philippine software industry as a global supplier and competitor for software products and services.

With around 250+ delegates 60 speakers, the first run was successful. Department of Science and Technology Secretary Mario Montejo, Rappler.com CEO and Editor-In-Chief Maria Ressa, and Google Enterprise Country Manager (Thailand and Philippines) Johan Segergren delivered key-note speeches at the event.

Leaders in the software industry also participated in panel discussions to talk about pressing issues and trends in this growing industry. Xamun President and CEO Arup Maity was invited to be one of the speakers at the event, where he shared his insights as one of the movers and shakers in the industry.

The event also featured an exhibit of local software products. Exhibitors interacted and showcased their products to the delegates and media representatives. Xamun was one of the exhibitors, alongside its sister product Got2FindMe.

As PSIA President Joey Gurango said, “The megatrends have impacted the society in a way that no other technology has in the last 100 years”

This remains to be true today, because there are around 300 local software companies that produce their own software products and services to create the software giant. As these so-called megatrends cause societal shifts whether in business or consumer level, it is important to know and understand what value it adds and the investment it requires to create the Philippines’ next “big thing”.

Xamun is striving to be that next big thing, so keep your eyes peeled on new developments!
